The road to the Wittgenstein House in the agricultural landscape
Maintenance of building no. 3 in 2026 - Kvilestova
Preservation of the Wittgenstein House is the primary task of SWiS. But we also want the hike to the House to be a good experience. It is not if collapsed houses dominate the landscape.
Despite the fact that the Foundation has never had more than two physically active volunteers, we have - thanks to our good helpers - managed to take care of 3 buildings along the road that were at risk of collapse.
A glimpse into the cultural landscape as outlined by students Lubna and Sabeth on July 30, 2018.
Building no. 1: Husmannsløa
Total dismantling and re-construction. Carried out in 2017 with SMIL funding from Luster municipality. Pictures below, before and after.
Building No. 2: field barn
Dismantling of extension, re-establishment of gable wall, clearing of vegetation, roof leak repairs, restoration of doors, new panels on the raised part of the roof, establishment of internal space for own use, arranged sewing space for information, mezzanine prepared with floor laid out.
Carried out in 2019-25 with grants from Luster municipality cultural funds and Luster Sparebank. Pictures below, before and after.
Building no. 3: Kvilestova
New windows, panel renewal, cleaning inside and out. Completed in 2026 with funding from Luster municipality cultural funds and Luster Sparebank
Together with the signature, it is Vegard Bolstad from the Foundation together with our faithful helpers Terje Lium and Jan Nyberg who have been responsible for the work in 2026.
Tone Bay - The Wittgenstein Seminar's most loyal participant, draws attention to the "halfway point" in 2022. Terje Lium takes a well-deserved breath after "new", at least 100-year-old windows from Trøndelag are in place.
Still - in 2026 - are we perhaps only halfway there? Yes, most of the time we are only
halfway
Half-way done
Half-way satisfied
Halfway through your vacation?
Halfway to Fortune
Halfway on the right course
Half-way to trust
Halfway through life?
Halfway through the eighteenth
Half-way decided
Half-way forced imagination
Halfway satisfactory
Halfway here - halfway there
Yes wohl - half way is here and now.
The rest house was once used for resting and "serving" in the hayloft for the workers from Gulbrandsgarden in Skjolden The food was often served by little girls riding bicycles from Skjolden , in the following. one of them, Anna Marta Bukve, still lives in Skjolden In recent times, the house has been used as a deer hunting stand with destroyed windows as a result of adaptation to this.
The house has its own history. The lower part of the building, which is paneled, was moved here in 1927 from spring barn no. 2 in Mørkridsdalen, between Bratten and Rustadgjerde. The move took place after the farm had been divided in two in 1926. The building was used as a storehouse, on spring barn no. 2 for Gulbrandsgarden in Skjolden .

If strength and health are with us, it may be completed next year with more cleaning, timely furnishing, relevant information, etc.
It's always good to get further than halfway - - -
